Zhang Chunjie, a member of the Communist Party of China, holds the title of Associate Senior Professional and serves as a principal of primary and secondary schools. She has successively held positions including homeroom teacher, academic director, and vice principal, and has served as principal for 15 consecutive years. Proficient in modern school management system development, she excels in leading teams and fostering collective growth, with a focus on cultivating students' learning capabilities. Her research centers on building high-quality brand schools and top-level cultural design, guided by the management philosophy of "dedicating heart to education, warming hearts with compassion, applying wisdom to management, and striving for excellence." At Harbin Xinqiao Primary School, she pioneered the "Three Cultivations Education" brand, elevating the institution to a nationally recognized model for moral education among minors. In Sanmenxia, she established the "Four-Dimensional Education" brand, transforming the school into a local benchmark through cultural enhancement and brand development. The school quickly became highly sought-after, earning her the titles "Pioneering Entrepreneurial Principal" and "Relentless Principal." She is frequently invited to deliver thematic reports and share best practices across the nation.
Additionally, she has received over a hundred honors, including "National Outstanding Principal," "Provincial Expert in Family Education Lecturing," and "Municipal Educator-Type Principal." She has participated in research projects and published over 30 academic papers, authored books such as How to Improve Academic Performance and Parental Wisdom: Effective Child-Rearing Methods. She published the monograph Time Management Lessons for Children and served as the lead presenter on the municipal broadcaster's program Principal Zhang Talks Parenting, addressing parental inquiries. She is a celebrated principal admired by students, teachers, and parents alike.

Nishani Haridass
High School Principal-World School Program/Master Teacher
Nishani Haridass is a seasoned educator from South Africa who has been part of Maple Leaf Educational Systems since 2018. She currently leads the World School Program at the high school in Luoyang, where she champions academic excellence and global citizenship.
Ms. Haridass holds a degree in Pedagogics, a Bachelor of Education with Honours, and a Master’s in Educational Studies from the University of Alberta. Her academic journey reflects a deep commitment to progressive education and student-centered learning.
Known for her personable leadership style and unwavering motivation, Ms. Haridass is a driven instructional leader who believes that every decision should begin and end with the student in mind. She sets high standards for her team, cultivating a learning environment where students are empowered to thrive, explore, and grow into compassionate global citizens.

Carlo Santos
PGLC-Arts and Music-PE Teacher
Mr. Carlo Santos was born in the Philippines, but completed his secondary and post-secondary studies in Toronto, Canada. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts – Music from York University, and continued on to pursue Education Studies in Nipissing University. Mr. Santos has been working in MLIS-Henan since 2017 and has taught a variety of courses such as: Music, Visual Arts, Drama, Photography, Media Arts, and Physical Education. Currently he is the Systems Coordinator of the Personal and Global Leadership/Creative Thinking and Problem-Solving courses, and teaches these courses alongside Music, Visual Arts, Drama, and Physical Education. Mr. Santos genuinely enjoys being with our students and is always engaging them through his classes, or whenever he supports their extra-curricular hobbies. Mr. Santos believes that he should challenge our students intellectually, nurture their growth with care, and embrace their individualities with respect.

Franci Jane Craven
English Teacher/ English Department Head/Literacy Advocate/Electives Department Head
Jane Craven is South African and has been teaching since 2013. She joined the Maple Leaf Educational System in 2023. She fills the roles of Literacy Advocate and Department Head of both English and -Electives and teaches English and Economics. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Education (Further Education and Training), as well as a Bachelor of Education Honours (Professional Education Management and Leadership) degree, both obtained from the University of the Free State in South Africa. Jane advocates positivity, self-discipline, and excellence through a growth mindset. “I am but a vehicle serving our world’s future”.

Kin Fai Wong

Kin Fai Wong is an educator from Toronto, Canada, with a background in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (BSc) and Education (BEd) from the University of Toronto. Since beginning his career in 2010 teaching English in South Korea, he has built over a decade of experience. He now teaches high school math and science at Maple Leaf in Henan, China, a role he began in 2017. His teaching mission is to ignite a passion for learning and help students realize their true potential.

Ming Bao

With over a decade of experience, Ming Bao is an OCT and AP-certified specialist in Mathematics and Physics. Her passion lies in demystifying complex concepts and empowering students to become confident problem-solvers. Having taught at both university and high school levels, she skillfully bridge foundational knowledge with advanced application. She is also a dedicated competition coach, fostering a love for challenge and a proven track record of student success in exams like the Euclid and Physics Bowl.

Rommel Castro

Rommel Castro, a licensed educator from the Philippines, holds a Bachelor of Science in Education major in General Science from the University of Caloocan. With over two decades of teaching experience in the Philippines and China, he has been an integral member of Maple Leaf Education System since 2019.
His teaching philosophy emphasizes the practical application of science through hands-on learning, fostering an environment that encourages students to explore, experiment, and independently discover knowledge beyond the traditional classroom setting.

Victor Van Voorst
Education Coordinator for Student Support-World History and Geography-Science 10 Teacher
Mr. Victor Van Voorst was born and grew up in Toronto, Canada. He studied Earth Science and Geography at the University of Waterloo and then went to Teachers College at The University of Western Ontario. In September 2025, he is beginning his 28th year of teaching. Before coming to China, he taught high school for 3 years in Japan and 17 years in Canada. Here at MLES, Mr. Van Voorst is the Education Coordinator of Students and he teaches Science and History/Geography. With respect to education, his philosophy is to help students discover and develop their talents and gifts so that they may serve others.

Tamara Patterson
English Teacher
Tamara is an English and Psychology teacher at Maple Leaf International School. She graduated from the College of Agriculture, Science, and Education, where she was awarded a Bachelor's degree in Education, and the University of South Wales with a Master's degree in Psychology. She believes that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.
Maple Leaf Middle School
A Chinese curriculum boarding-model school. Students from grades 7-9 study the Chinese curriculum with additional science and academic English courses taught by native-English speaking teachers.
