Harry Nguyen

PRINCIPAL OF MLIS-CHONGQING INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM

Harry Nguyen has taught for more than 22 years as a British Columbia certified educator and has been at Maple Leaf since 2003. Mr. Nguyen has taught various Maths and Science courses from grades 10-12 during his tenure. He has a Masters Degree in educational technology from the University of British Columbia along with his Bachelor Degrees in Education and Biochemistry.

However, starting in 2015, Harry Nguyen started his administration career first at Dalian campus as the vice principal where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of a school numbering 2300 students. And then in 2018, Mr. Nguyen was promoted to principal in a newly opened school in Yancheng. After working there for 4 successful years and graduating their inaugural class, Harry Nguyen moved to the Zhenjiang campus for the 2022-23 school year before settling down here at Chongqing Maple Leaf for this year. His decision to move to Chongqing and become the international principal was a great opportunity for his career and his family. He was warmly welcomed by staff and students. Harry Nguyen is happy to be at Chongqing Maple Leaf and plans to stay for a long time.

Daniel Webster


Daniel Webster is from Victoria, British Columbia. He has a diploma of Arts and Science from Camosun College 2015. He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Victoria in 2017. In 2019 he completed his Diploma of Education from the University of Victoria. He moved to Chongqing, China in August 2019 and has since taught history and English courses He has also been the librarian for four years at the Chongqing highschool campus and the system coordinator for library for the past three years. Daniel is always eager to share his love of reading with students and enjoys connecting students with books that are interesting and helpful to them. “One of my goals is to ignite a love of reading for my students”.

David Byrne


I have been teaching at Maple Leaf since 2020. I have taught English for 16 years in international schools and have turned my interests in recent years toward teaching World History and Geography and Art. I like to embody plenty of cross curricular teaching in my lessons and believe that students can realize how important every subject is and can contribute to their learning whilst building a variety of interests and life skills. 


Hossein Mivehchi 


Hossein Mivehchi started his teaching career at Maple Leaf International School in 2017. He has taught various courses across different departments. He holds two bachelor’s degrees—in education and physics—as well as a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration. Currently, he is teaching business courses, including Marketing and Economics. Guided by his educational philosophy, he believes that education should be fun, and he focuses on enhancing his students’ key skills, such as communication, problem-solving, creative thinking, and critical thinking. He consistently encourages his learners to apply what they've studied to their daily activities.

Innocent Siphesihle Makhaye 


Innocent Siphesihle Makhaye is from Durban, South Africa. He graduated with a BSc in Medical Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2010, majoring in Human Physiology with minors in Microbiology and Biochemistry. Before joining Maple Leaf International School, Innocent taught high school Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math for seven years in South Africa. In 2018, he began teaching at Maple Leaf, offering high school courses such as Anatomy and Physiology 12, Life Sciences 11, Biology 11 and 12, Environmental Sciences 11 and 12, Science 10, Math 10, and Pre-Calculus 11. Innocent has been with Maple Leaf for seven years and has served as the Science Department Head for almost three years. He is passionate about working with young minds, helping students access their full potential in critical and creative thinking while fostering a love and understanding of science. Beyond academics, Innocent also coaches the boys' football team.

Kathy Li


Kathy is a passionate educator with expertise in Mathematics, Computer Science, and STEM Education, holding a BC Professional Teaching Certificate. Her teaching philosophy centers on making learning a joyful and empowering experience while fostering self-directed learning skills. In her classroom, she nurtures exploration and analytical thinking through structured problem-solving and inquiry-based learning. She aims to inspire a love for STEM disciplines and help students realize their full potential in a dynamic, engaging, and innovative environment.

Kelly Wang


Kelly Wang graduated from Maple Leaf International School in 2018, where she began her journey in the STEM program. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics, as well as a Bachelor of Education, from Thompson Rivers University. Kelly started her teaching career at Tianjin TEDA Maple Leaf and has been teaching in Chongqing since 2024. 

Passionate about inspiring young minds, Kelly strives to make learning meaningful and engaging. She believes every student has unique potential and is dedicated to helping them grow with confidence, curiosity, and a love for discovery.

Leo Huang


Mr. Huang is a dedicated international educator currently teaching Mathematics, Physics, and Food Studies at Chongqing Maple Leaf International School. He holds a teaching certification from the British Columbia Ministry of Education and is now in his third year with the Maple Leaf Educational Systems. Committed to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment, Mr. Huang challenges students to develop critical thinking skills and a passion for discovery across a diverse range of subjects. Students are encouraged to explore, innovate, and achieve their highest potential.
